Imogen Rhia Herrad is a German writer and broadcaster. She was born in 1967 and brought up in Germany and has also lived in London and in Argentina. She divides her time between Cologne and Wales, (where she learnt Welsh) and writes in German and English. Her short stories and articles in English have been published in magazines and anthologies in Wales, Canada and the US.〔(Poetry and Prose from In Posse Review )〕 Her programmes for German public radio (in German) include pieces about the Queen of Sheba, Morgan le Fay, Zora Neale Hurston,〔(SWR2 Wissen: "Fußspur im Staub" - SWR2 | SWR.de )〕 the Mapuche people of Patagonia,〔(SWR2 Wissen: Volk der Erde - SWR2 | SWR.de )〕〔(Deutschlandradio Kultur - Menschen und Landschaften - Maisbier für die Mutter Erde )〕 and the cultural histories of sheep, dragons and the apple, respectively. Imogen’s story ''The Accident'' has been longlisted for the Raymond Carver Short Story Awards. Her children’s story ''The Wind’s Bride'' won third prize in the London Writers’ Competition.
